PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media gateway system capable of appropriately performing processing to secure a communication path.;SOLUTION: A system 100 includes a media gateway device (MG) 110 and a media gateway controller (MGC) 120. The MG includes: a first communication resource to be used for performing communication following a first communication protocol; and a second communication resource to be used for performing communication following a second communication protocol. The MGC receives a call signal which expresses the communication protocol to be used for communication, and requests the MG to assign the first communication resource to call origination object communication when the communication protocol expressed by the call signal is the first communication protocol and to assign the second communication resource when the communication protocol expressed by the call signal is the second communication protocol.
