PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method that, in a data processing system with an LDPC decoder and a data detector, better balance processing times in the LDPC decoder and data detector.;SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: the data detector operable to detect data values in a data set; and the low density parity check decoder operable to iteratively perform a plurality of decoding iterations on the data set, wherein the plurality of decoding iterations comprises a selection of full decoding iterations and fractional decoding iterations to balance a decoder processing time with a detector processing time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
