The present invention relates to a method for improving the production yield of the human papillomavirus (HPV) L1 protein comprising the step of culturing the human papillomavirus (HPV) L1 protein -expressing cells in a medium containing a total carbon source at high concentrations. According to the culture method using a high concentration of the carbon source -containing medium of the present invention , human papilloma virus (HPV) as well as the production yield of L1 protein can be significantly improved , large immunogenicity of L1 protein produced has been increased .
