PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a population size estimation method for precisely estimating the size of population using measurement data obtained by using a measurement method having detection limit.;SOLUTION: The total number of data is estimated on measurement data obtained using a measurement method having detection limit is made on a computer. The measured data is sorted in an order from the largest/smallest data. Subsequently, a range of candidate values of the total number of data is set based on the measured data. Then, scatter diagrams of probability distribution of a normalized measured data and an estimated distribution of the measured data are drawn with respect to all candidate values within the range. These scatter diagrams are evaluated on the linearity using a correlation like Pearson's R-value or a function on a linear relationship to estimate an optimum candidate value as the population size.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
