PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for constructing cutoff work space, which allows a caisson for cutoff work to be stably fixed without water leakage, even for an uneven surface shape of a wall body on the waterfront or a pile body or structure standing in water; and a caisson for the cutoff work.;SOLUTION: A water cutoff material 3 formed of a soft independent foam body with water impermeability extends from the front end of the front face of a casson 2 having openings at the front face and the top face. When the caisson 2 is installed at a predetermined position, the water cutoff material 3 comes in contact with a wall body 12, in a state that water W flows inside the caisson 2 through an opened communication port 6 which is disposed at the caisson 2 to allow the inside and the outside of the caisson 2 to be communicated with each other. The caisson 2 is fixed to the wall body 12 by upper fixing means 7 and lower fixing means 8. The communication port 6 is then closed to discharge the water W inside the caisson 2 outside. Before or after the discharge, a rubber tube 4 extending along the water cutoff material 3 at the back face thereof is expanded, so that the water cutoff material 3 is pressed to the wall body 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
