PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for acclimatizing a user to provision of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.SOLUTION: A method for acclimatizing a user to provision of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy comprises steps of: operating a device for treating sleep disordered breathing during successive treatment sessions, the device being used to provide continuous positive airway pressure during sleep; determining a clinically-derived full therapeutic pressure (201); applying a treatment pressure equal to or lower than a therapeutic treatment pressure for the duration of a first session (203); obtaining responses to a series of preprogrammed patient and/or bed partner feedback questions before the start of a second session (205), and, on the basis of the responses, either incrementally increasing the treatment pressure for the second session when the responses indicate that the patient is acclimatizing to the therapy (206); or maintaining the treatment pressure for the second session when the responses do not indicate that the patient is acclimatizing to the therapy (207).
