PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a storing location of data required to restore lost data when a storage section of an information processing apparatus does not have backup data. PSOLUTION: An information processing system 100A has an information restoration device 10A, an information storage device 20A and a history storing device 30A which are connected by a network. When transmitting a file to the information storage device 20A, the information restoration device 10A creates a history of the file and transmits it to the history storage device 30A. The information restoration device 10A transmits a search instruction of the file to the history storage device 30A. The history storage device 30A searches an original file history 321A. When the information storage device 20A to which a search target file is transmitted is detected, the history storage device makes inquires about file existence with the information storage device 20A, and when it is not detected, the history storage device transmits that effect to the information restoration device 10A which has issued the search instruction. The information storage device 20A checks file existence in response to the inquiry, and transmits a response to the information restoration device 10A which has issued the search instruction.
