PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst layer-electrolyte membrane laminated body, a catalyst layer-electrolyte membrane laminated body with an edge seal, a membrane-electrode assembly, a membrane-electrode assembly with an edge seal and these manufacturing methods which enable preventing of short circuit.SOLUTION: The catalyst layer-electrolyte membrane laminated body with an edge seal includes: the membrane-electrode assembly having an electrolyte membrane 2 and a catalyst layer 3 arranged on both surfaces of the electrolyte membrane 2, wherein at least one outer peripheral face is sloped from the each catalyst layer 3 to the electrolyte membrane 2 so as to make the electrolyte membrane 2 larger than respective catalyst layers 3 in a plane view; and the edge seal 5 having an opening in the center and pasted on at least one surface of the catalyst layer-electrolyte membrane laminated body so as to make a catalyst layer be exposed from the opening.
