PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member forming liquid for a semiconductor light emitting device, excellent in light stability (particularly, resistance to ultraviolet rays) and adhesiveness, having sufficient heat resistance and film forming capability, and capable of sealing the semiconductor light emitting device without causing cracking, peeling, and coloration even when used for a long period.;SOLUTION: A siloxane compound containing a constitution unit represented by formula (1) contains (A) a silanol group and/or an alkoxy group bonded to bifunctional silicon, and (B) a silanol group and/or an alkoxy group bonded to trifunctional silicon, the total content of the (A) and the (B) measured by liquid 29Si-NMR being 0.2 wt.% or more and 5.0 wt.% or less and {the number of moles of the (B)}/{the total of the numbers of moles of the (A) and the (B)} measured by liquid 29Si-NMR being 1.0% or more and 30% or less.
