PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse wavelength dispersion type retardation film extremely excellent in a reverse wavelength dispersion property and optical characteristics, and to provide a method for forming the film.;SOLUTION: The method for forming a reverse wavelength dispersion retardation film includes steps of: preparing N-vinylcarbazole by reacting carbazole and acetylene; obtaining a polymer by polymerizing a monomer containing the N-vinylcarbazole; obtaining a molded film by molding the polymer; and obtaining a stretched film by stretching the film.
