PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform physical fitness assessment by a simple construction by using information on the pulse, information on the age or the like. PSOLUTION: The physical fitness assessment device 1 assesses physical fitness by using the oxygen uptake. It comprises: a maximal oxygen uptake calculation part 14 which determines the ratio of an obtained number of pulses to the maximum number of pulses, converts the ratio of number of pulses to the ratio of oxygen uptake and calculates the maximal oxygen uptake from oxygen uptake at rest by using the ratio of oxygen uptake; conversion means (conversion tables 2222 and 2223) in which the maximal oxygen uptake is associated with the level of physical fitness; and an assessment part 16 which assesses the level of physical fitness from the conversion means by using the maximal oxygen uptake as a result of calculation by the maximal oxygen uptake calculation part 14.
