PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate temperature which is used for controlling a rolling mill accurately and without delay.SOLUTION: The temperature estimating device 20 of a rolled stock 2 which is rolled with a hot rolling mill includes: a temperature history calculating part 21 for calculating the predicted value of the temperature history of the rolled stock under recuperation; a temperature history measuring part 24 for calculating the measured value of the temperature history of the rolled stock under the recuperation; a correlation function deriving part 22 for calculating a correlation function on the basis of the above predicted value; and a temperature history comparing part 23 for calculating the estimated value of the temperature of the rolled stock on the basis of the predicted value, the measured value and the correlation function.
