PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of actuating a blood extracorporeal circulation apparatus, appropriately responding to clogging of a blood treatment device while preventing coagulation and temperature lowering of the blood in a blood circuit. PSOLUTION: This method of actuating the blood extracorporeal circulation apparatus 1 includes: a first process where a control means 13 controls a first blood pump 30 to pass the blood of the blood circuit 10 from a blood removal side to a retransfusion side via the blood treatment device 20; a second process for detecting blood inlet pressure and blood outlet pressure of the blood treatment device 20 during the first process; and a third process where the control means 13 controls a second blood pump 31 to increase the blood flow rate flowing in a bypass circuit 23 when the pressure difference between the blood inlet pressure and the blood outlet pressure detected by the second process during the first process exceeds a predetermined threshold.
