PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic method which prevents the fusion of silicon and improves the efficiency of the synthesis of sialon by a combustion synthesis reaction and high purity sialon. PSOLUTION: In the method for synthesizing the sialon using silicon and aluminum as raw materials by the combustion synthesis reaction in a nitrogen atmosphere, the combustion synthesis reaction is carried out by using hydrous aluminosilicate additionally as a raw material. The temperature of a reaction system is increased by the combustion synthesis reaction; however, since the dehydration reaction of the hydrous aluminosilicate is an endothermic reaction, the temperature of the reaction system is decreased so that the temperature which allows the reaction to continue can be kept although the fusion reaction of silicon is delayed. Therefore, the efficiency of the sialon synthesis by the combustion synthesis reaction can be improved. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
