Provided is a preparation method of magnetic iron oxide Fe_21.333O₃₂, comprising the following steps, preparing a solid green rust; and then calcining said solid green rust to obtain a magnetic iron oxide Fe_21.333O₃₂. Also provided is the application of the magnetic iron oxide Fe_21.333O₃₂ as active materials of desulfurization at medium temperature. Also provided is a desulfurizer comprising the magnetic iron oxide Fe_21.333O₃₂ and the application thereof. The preparation method has simple steps and short production period.
