摘要
Present invention is based on the deployment of powered 3D glasses - active method that has remote controlled mechanised open and shut glasses for lenses to view indoors. The shutters of the glasses are synchronised with the display frame rate via infrared or RF method and the two different angles of each frame are shown sequentially to the viewer as the 3D content is displayed, thus producing the separate frames for left and right eyes and hence producing the 3D effect in the reproduction. The lenses alternately open and shut so the left and right eye sees a complete version of each angle rather than parts of a combined version. This is different from the passive polarised glasses in respect that rather than showing each eye a different image at the same time, each eye sees a complete version of each angle and the images are seen in rapid sequence. When the Display screen shows left eye view of the object, shutter of the left glass gets opened. This is an effective method of creating the 3D viewing but it halves the frame rate of the content. Video normally runs at 30 frames per second, and in order to be able to perceive the images at this rate the frame rate has to be doubled i.e, the refresh rate has to be double that of the standard display of 30 frames per second (fps) i.e, at the rate of 60 fps. Generally higher the frame rate, better is the resolution and certain high quality videos may be of higher frame rates, even 60 fps. In such cases, for 3D displays, very high frame rate of 120 fps is needed. With the advent of 3D in the entertainment segment, development of 3D content as well as development of 3D processing and display capabilities in the conventional Display products and techniques for 3D viewing have assumed greater importance. While LCD and Plasma displays are being upgraded for 3D for use in home entertainment, the true colour LED video displays (including LED TV) are augmented with 3D features for use in both indoor applications like movie theatres and function halls, referred as OOH applications and outdoor applications like drive-in theatres and large public gatherings. The methodologies include - passive (polarized) eye glasses and active (with shutters synchronized to the frame rate of the display) glasses - for viewing indoors; and specially constructed lenticular lenses used in conjunction with the stereoscopic display for outdoor viewing without glasses. Passive glasses selectively enable the two eyes to see images of the screen in two different angles. Active glasses enable to see the image in two frames - one after the other - in quick succession and in synchronization with the screen with the help of IR / RF means. Passive filter glasses are employed for viewing 3D movies in theatres and on the television sets at homes. Passive optically polarised filter films are affixed on the true colour LED displays and also on the eye glasses to view 3D content.
