The present invention relates to puffed rice based snack foods and cost effective method of making puffed rice based snack foods by maintaining crispiness with different types of flavors. The method includes special type of salt to be used instead of sand (which is used as a conventional medium for puffing of the rice) and the innovative basic treatment of rice. The snack is much healthier by maintaining its hygiene and by enhancing the taste in variant flavor from sweet to sour. The snack product of the present invention contains different types of vitamins and minerals, antioxidants in order to maintain healthiest composition for human body.
