METHOD FOR INTRATHORACIC LYMPH NODE BIOPSY

A method for intrathoracic lymph node biopsy involves application of artificial diagnostic pneumothorax with 1/3 lung collapse followed by spiral CT. Furthermore, video-assisted thoracoscopy is performed with continuous image recording of surgery progress. Several intrathoracic lymph nodes or the entire conglomerate of mediastinal and/or the lung root lymph nodes are removed in one piece for subsequent cytological, histological and microbiological examination thereof. A swab with a of hydrogen peroxide solution is applied to the removed lymph node beds and then a nonwoven laminate sheet of oxidized regenerated cellulose is placed thereinto. The surgery is completed with intrapleural administration of Ropivacaine solution, and at the end of the operation, following the transition to tracheal anesthesia, gradual inflation of the lung is performed with a visual assessment of the biopsy area, aerostasis and hemostasis conditions.
