A procedure to allow a user to contract products, which comprises: receiving, at a receiver, a video program signal that includes a video program and information from a remote installation, in which the information indicates that a product is available; show the video program on a screen; receive, in a processor during the transmission of the video program, the information received at the receiver indicating that a product is available; provide, in response to receipt by the processor of the information indicating that the product is available, an on-screen message that indicates to the user that the product is available for contracting with an interactive programming guide (10), in which the product is related to the video program; and allow the user to place an order for the product
