A composition comprising first delayed release particles and second delayed release particles, the first and second delayed release particles comprising an effective amount of a narrow junction effector comprising a peptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID No. 1, wherein the peptide is 8-15 amino acids in length, where the first delayed-release particles and the second delayed-release particles begin to release the peptide at different times in the intestinal fluid, and in which: First delayed release particles comprise: a first central particle; a first base coat on the first core particle, wherein the first coat comprises an effective amount of the peptide; and a first delayed-release coating outside the first basecoat, the first delayed-release coating being substantially stable in the gastric fluid and effectively releasing the peptide at a first time of release; and the second delayed release particles comprise: a second central particle; a second base coat on the second core particle, wherein the second base coat comprises the effective amount of the peptide; and a second delayed release coating, the second delayed release coating being substantially stable in the gastric fluid and effectively releasing the peptide in a second release time.
