I am specifically targeting the treatment of worry and obsessional symptoms in children. The device incorporates visual and kinaesthetic stimuli to allow children to have increased insight into their thought activity during times of worry or experience of anxiety-related symptoms. The device allows children to see thoughts which they have written down move into and out of a model head. Children are taught how to control their worry by having control of a mechanical handle which sends their 'worrying thoughts' into and out of a model head. The device intends to provide therapeutic benefits based on the principles of exposure to aversive images or unpleasant internal experiences. The device is intended to be commercialised to be used by mental health professionals, individuals with anxiety disorders, or by the parents of children with anxiety disorders.
