The introduction of privatised policing into the Australian community.

#$%^&*AU2014100042A420140220.pdf#####Abstract Suburb Safe is the first Australian private policing presence engaging a localised, highly visible pro-active privatised policing presence targeting local issues. Suburb Safe's Community Support Officers are employed solely for the protection of the community and property and homes with a commitment of engaging a pro-active security presence for local communities only. Community Support Officers are employed locally to patrol local communities with a focus on reducing property offences (e.g. Break and Enter, Motor vehicle theft, Steal from Motor vehicle, and Malicious Damage). To accomplish this Community Support Officers pro-actively patrol on foot and in vehicles with the use of Optical Surveillance Devices to record evidence of offences and intelligence for dissemination to the government police. Community Support Officers serve a number of functions engaging a whole of community approach to Community Security by; performing continual pro-active patrols of the community; engaging an accountable pro-active security inspection of participant's homes using a Tour Guard Management System; and by engaging and encouraging the community to report crime thereby invoking a 'live' intelligence reporting system.
