The present invention relates to an apparatus for measuring the root growth state of a water culture plant using sound waves. The present invention includes: a bed main body that is provided with a growth space therein in which a culture fluid is stored so as to allow crop growth and in which a root of the growing crop is rooted in the culture fluid; a sound wave generation device that is disposed on one outer side of the bed main body so as to generate predetermined sound waves; a sound wave transmitter that is disposed on one surface of the bed main body and electrically connected to the sound wave generation device so as to allow the sound waves that are generated by the sound wave generation device to be transmitted into the growth space in which the crop grows; a sound wave receiver that is disposed on the other surface of the bed main body such that the sound waves, in which a phase difference is generated by the root of the crop rooting therein, are received through the culture fluid; a sound wave collection and storage device that is disposed on the other outer side of the bed main body and electrically connected to the sound wave receiver so as to collect and store the sound waves received by the sound wave receiver; and a sound wave analysis device that is electrically connected to the sound wave collection and storage device so as to analyze the collected and stored sound waves. When the apparatus for measuring the root growth state of a water culture plant using sound waves is used, the degree of the root growth, which cannot by observed by the naked eye, can be measured using the sound waves during a deep flow technique for cultivation, in which the root of the crop root is cultivated in the culture fluid, and thus the growth of various crops under various environments can be measured in large greenhouses and plant factories.
