A safety valve (1) for gas pipelines that is suitable for intervening in an automatic manner in case of gas leaks downstream of the safety valve. It comprises a support structure (5) formed by a tubular body (6) coaxially sealingly mounted in the gas pipeline and by an appendage (7), which is axially extended from the tubular body (6), being tapered at the free end (17) thereof, and is provided with a through opening (20) and a seat (21), which is partially facing towards the through opening (20). A door (23) is provided, hinged to the support structure (5) of the valve (1) and movable between an open position (A), in which it is arranged next to the appendage (7) and inserted in the seat (21) so as to close the through opening (20), and a closed position (B), in which it is arranged so as to close the tubular body (6) for intercepting the gas flow. A spring (26) acts on the door (23) in order to force it with an elastic moment towards the open position (A).
