OPTIMISATION OF FROZEN BOVINE SEMEN

Optimisation of frozen bovine semen, comprising the use of an isotonic medium as an effective stimulant, such as caffeine, pentoxifylline or substitutes as diluent, after a commercially available semen-containing straw is unfrozen, in order to divide the frozen dosis into one or more doses for subsequent use to artificially inseminate more than one female animal. The use of these stimulant-containing diluents after unfreezing improves the vigour, motility and integrity of the sperm membrane, and also allows the insemination of two or more cows.
