The present invention relates to a self-assembled helical metallic complex of formula (1): €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ [M 1 M 2 M 3 (L1) 3 ]€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ(1) said metallic complex forming a triad donor (M 1 )/acceptor (M 2 )/donor (M 3 ), wherein the efficiency of the intermolecular energy transfer between the pair of donors (M 1 ) and (M 3 ) to the acceptor (M 2 ) is from 30% to 70% and the L1 ligand-field strength of the donors (M 1 ) and (M 3 ) is at least 19000 cm -1 .
