The method involves loading container (1a,1b) at the unloading area of a harbor terminal (2) by container crane (5a) located onto trailer of vehicle (3). The container is moved to a placement position (6), and is unloaded by a container crane to storage position. The position of the loaded or unloaded container on one of the trailers of vehicle is determined by a measurement of the distance (13a,13b) between vehicle and container crane. The value for container is loaded onto one of trailers of vehicle to the second value formed during unloading.
