Most of existing road and traffic safety signs have insufficient visibility and readability by employing a retro-reflective mode using light of street lamps and head lamps. In order to improve this, internal light type signs which are environment-friendly and use high efficiency LEDs are recently produced and are gradually supplied. It is important to repair the internal light type signs using LEDs or different lamps at an early stage when performance of the lamps is degraded or failure occurs in the lamps. The present invention proposes an intelligent LED road and traffic safety sign based on a ubiquitous sensor network (USN) which comprises a sensor, an actuator, and a network connection device required for an LED sign therein, interconnects the sensor, the actuator, and the network connection device through a wired power line communication (PLC) or a wireless mesh network, and remotely operates or manages a gateway for connecting to a backbone network in a control server. The present invention enables easy repair of road signs, provides information such as construction or car accidents in existing signs because two-way communication is possible, and, furthermore, collects detailed weather information on a national scale if a weather sensor is included in the road signs.
