摘要

In order to achieve the objective of reduction in traffic collisions involving fleet vehicles, it is necessary for us to understand what the safety performance of a fleet driver is. This research was initiated and developed based on this consideration.;In the research, the driver's compliance with traffic signs was used as the criterion to evaluate the safety performance of fleet drivers. The selected traffic signs included regulatory signs, warning signs, and pedestrian crossing control signs. The studied participants were 20 drivers operating out of the Saint John terminal of Armour Transportation Systems and 5 drivers of the Municipal Operations & Engineering Department of the City of Saint John (CSJ). The studied vehicles consisted of cargo vans, straight trucks, and semi-trailers. The data collected in the research included vehicle speed and tracking data and traffic sign data.
