PURPOSE: An air handling unit and method for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system (HVAC) for a vessel are provided to reduce the consumption of energy supplied from a power source to a compressor and to reduce the use of additional energy. CONSTITUTION: An air handling unit for an HVAC for a vessel comprises a mixing unit, a supply unit, a heating unit, and a first cooling unit (400). The mixing unit mixes internal air with external air. The supply unit supplies the mixed air to the inside of a vessel. The heating unit is arranged on a path where the mixed air flows and heats the mixed air. The first cooling unit cools the mixed air using the vaporization heat of LNG supplied from an LNG tank to an engine.
