The present invention relates to a novel microalgae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii KNUA021 strain (KCTC 12066BP) and a method for producing hexadecenol and fatty acids of C16-C18 therefrom. The Chlamydomonas reinhardtii KNUA021 strain (KCTC 12066BP) can produce hexadecenol (C20H40O), which is a high value fatty alcohol, and fatty acids of C16-C18. Additionally, the use of the KNUA021 strain can have effects of producing biodiesel.
