The present invention provides an assessment method for virus infection of plants, comprising the following steps; (a) a step to measure. spectra by irradiating light on normal plant samples and virus-infected plant samples, wherein the spectra display a large amount of interacting photons; (b) a step to pre-process the spectrum obtained in the step (a), wherein a target domain is selected from the spectra, and the pre-processed spectrum is acquired by using wavelet technique and normalization; and (c) a step to analyze the pre-processed spectrum by chemometrics method, wherein the chemometric method is an assessment method of plant virus infection characterized by execution with the use of principal component analysis(PCA) in selected optimum domains through a moving window algorithm. By using spectroscopy(desirably, Raman spectroscopy) and chemometrics method, the method according to the present invention can not only non-destructively detect infection status of virus in green leaves of a plant, but also provide infection status of virus in very convenient and rapid ways. Therefore, the method according to the present method can be applied effectively to crops, particularly vegetable crops being afflicted with enormous damages by virus infection.
