The present invention relates a system and a method for initially driving a slow charger for a green car for initiating driving of the slow charger used in charging a battery of an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle. Thus, the present invention provides a method of initially driving a slow charger for a green car, which includes the steps of allowing a CP signal to be output from an EVSE to operate a regulator; allowing a driving signal to be output from the regulator to operate a flip-flop; allowing the driving signal to be output from the flip-flop to operate a power supply; and allowing a reset signal to be output from a central control unit which is turned on by the power supply such that the flip-flop is reset.
