The present invention relates to a methylation biomarker which is specific to the exposure of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which is a type of perfluorinated compound (PFC), and a detecting method using the same. In particular, the present invention relates to a PFOA exposure-specific marker gene in which a promoter portion of a particular gene is specifically methylated by means of PFOA, and a method for providing information for confirming the exposure of PFOA using the same. The methylation marker of the present invention can be usefully used to monitor and determine the exposure of PFOA more accurately and rapidly than an existing method by using the methylated promoter portion of a reactive gene selected through a DNA methylation microarray chip as a biomarker. Also, the methylation marker of the present invention can be used as a tool for proving toxic action mechanisms caused by PFOA.
