The present invention relates to a method for supercritical extraction of 2-hydroxy-4-isopropyl-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one derived from Japanese cypress and to a composition containing the same for treating atopic dermatitis. The method for extraction of the Japanese cypress-derived 2-hydroxy-4-isopropyl-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one comprises (a) a step for drying the wood of Japanese cypress using cool air; (b) a step for smashing the dried wood of Japanese cypress to 0.2-2 mm of splinters; (c) a step for performing a first supercritical extraction of the splinters of the wood of Japanese cypress using carbon dioxide under temperatures of 30-50°C and pressures of 100-500 bar; (d) a step for performing a second supercritical extraction of a first supercritical extract of the wood of Japanese cypress using carbon dioxide under temperatures of 30-50°C and pressures of 100-500 bar; and (e) a step for extracting 2-hydroxy-4-isopropyl-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one from the a second supercritical extract of the wood of Japanese cypress.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
