PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of highly efficiently separating/recovering a positive electrode active material and a current collector at low cost.SOLUTION: A method of separating/recovering a current collector and a positive electrode active material from a positive electrode member for a lithium ion battery includes (A) a step of preparing a positive electrode member for a lithium ion battery, constituted of a current collector and a positive electrode active material bonded by a binder, (B) a step of cutting the positive electrode member for a lithium ion battery, (C) a step of sifting the positive electrode member after cutting using a sieve of a mesh-opening of from 100 to 200 mm to recover the positive electrode member present under the sieve, (D) a step of peeling off the positive electrode active material from the current collector by giving an impact force to the positive electrode member present under the sieve obtained by the step (C), and (E) a step of sifting the positive electrode member using a sieve of a mesh-opening of 0.1 to 1.0 mm to recover the current collector over the sieve and the positive electrode active material under the sieve subsequent to the step (D).
