Disclosed is a method for video transcoding optimization using extraction of high-frequency information for each frame. The method for video transcoding comprises the steps of: calculating a quantification index representing high-frequency information for each frame in which video content is coded at different bit rates; comparing the quantification index with a video quality estimation index, which is obtained by digitizing a video quality difference between scenes coded at the different bit rates through subjective scoring, to deduce the relationship between the quantification index and the video quality estimation index; and performing trasncoding of a new video content to be serviced by using the relationship between the quantification index and the video quality estimation index.
