The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition containing extracts from Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc. and Lithospermum erythrorhizom Sieb. et Zucc. for preventing or treating obesity, dyslipidemia, fatty liver, or diabetes. The pharmaceutical composition of the present invention causes decreases in the level of blood cholesterol and body fat, an increase in the expression of CPT-1, a nuclear transcription factor playing an important role in oxidation or synthesis of fat, and decreases in the expression of ACC-1 and SREBP-1c, thereby ultimately showing an effect of preventing or treating obesity. The pharmaceutical composition of the present invention improves accumulation of fat in the liver tissue by decreasing the content of fat in the liver tissue, thereby showing effects of preventing fatty liver, suppressing the progress of fatty liver, or improving the disease status. The present invention provides a food composition containing extracts from Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc. and Lithospermum erythrorhizom Sieb. et Zucc. for improving or relieving obesity, dyslipidemia, fatty liver, or diabetes.
