The present invention relates to a streetlights track remote monitoring system and a method thereof. A zero-phase current transformer is formed at a lamp post or a main line of a distribution box to detect a leakage current in real time. When a leakage current is generated, a leakage current detection device embedded in the lamp post determines the value of the leakage current and carries out wireless communication with a control apparatus in the distribution box. The control apparatus detects a span in which the leakage current is generated based on the value of the leakage current, calculates the insulation resistance of the span, and finally reports the insulation resistance to a main control center. Therefore, the present invention can shorten the time of maintenance by enabling rapid follow-up and prevent accidents caused by insulation resistance which is released to a surface.
