A method for processing an egg package, comprising: (a) after the eggs have been placed in the package, the position of one or more eggs is mechanically adjusted so that all the eggs have the same orientation within the package; and (b) after performing step (a) applying information to the surface of one or more eggs laid in a package. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein step (b) comprises laser-printed information on the surface of one or more eggs when the eggs are in the package.
