FIELD: instrumentation.;SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in diagnostics of internal combustion engines. The method consists in the measurement of oil flow rate through a bearing and determination of the degree of main bearings' wear. The method implementation involves setting of nominal rotation speed of a crankshaft, measurement of oil density, then pressure from oil cavities of every main bearing is supplied in turn to the diaphragm throttle device with the help of switches at built-in hydraulic lines, pressure difference at the diaphragm is measured by a differential pressure gauge, and the oil flow rate in the hydraulic line of the bearing being checked is calculated. Estimated value of clearance in it is defined as per the formula where k stands for a trial coefficient (predefined for each engine type by measuring the required clearance with the engine pan demounting); ρ - for the engine oil density; Qi - for the engine oil flow rate in the hydraulic line of a bearing; Δpi - for the pressure difference at the throttle device diaphragm.
