The method involves producing an averaged echo-signal amplitude by the scattering particles within a focus (7) and determining the maximum from the averaged echo-signal amplitude. The run-time is computed from the echo-signal maximum till the focus during the recognition of the signal form that is transmitted from a transducer (12). An amplitude-locus curve is computed from the amplitude-runtime curve in a predetermined acoustic speed of a medium (6). The maximum of the amplitude-locus curve represents the focus of the transducer. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for determining the parameters of the transducers and the ultrasound devices by determining the position of the focus from the averaged echo-signal amplitude of the scattering particles in a medium.
