The method involves determining average of position signals (Ss1, Ss2), speed signals (vs1, vs2) and acceleration signals (as1, as2) for calculating driving condition parameters (v), where the average is measured by a sensor or determined from measured values of the sensor. The signals are determined from two categories of driving conditions, and two driving condition parameter averages are determined from the signals. The parameters are calculated from the parameter averages, and the averages and a variance of the signals are calculated from a common category of the parameters. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance system comprising a regulating and/or controlling device for determining a driving condition parameter of a vehicle.
