The method involves exerting a drive torque in preferred direction of internal combustion engine on a crankshaft, The starting torque (MEM) is exerted on crankshaft by started unit during the starting process. The fuel is injected into combustion space of cylinder (Z1) of combustion engine during starting process. The fuel injection process is performed, when predetermined negative pressure in combustion space of the cylinder is exceeded.
