The device has a catheter (1) with a distal catheter end and a proximal catheter end (5) and a flexible, fluid-tight catheter wall. A polarographic measurement unit is integrated in the catheter and provides a measuring chamber partially limited by the catheter wall. The measuring chamber is filled with electrolyte fluid, in which a polarographic cathode and an anode are arranged. The catheter wall is only permeable to oxygen. The catheter has a flexible metallic catheter tip formed of metallic radio-opaque guide wire. Another polarographic measurement unit for oxygen partial pressure measurement is arranged along the catheter and spaced from the former measurement unit in the region between distal and proximal catheter ends.
