The system (1) has a device (8) that is provided for separating liquid water from a product gas current of a fuel cell (2). The device is provided with a porous separator layer (11) impervious for transmission of gaseous substance and liquid water. The porous separator layer is made from knitted fabric and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The separator layer is designed as selectively membrane from palladium, transmissive for hydrogen.
