The fuel supply system (1) comprises a fuel tank (2) and a water separator (7) integrated into the fuel tank. The water separator is arranged in the flow path of the fuel between a fuel inlet (3) and a fuel outlet (4) of the fuel tank. A hydrophobic barrier layer (10) is arranged between the water separator and the fuel outlet. The hydrophobic barrier layer comprises a fine-mesh lattice. The hydrophobic barrier layer in the fuel tank is formed cylindrical and overlaps the fuel outlet of the fuel tank.
