The system has microphones (2, 2', 2'', 2 ''') for sensing a constituent of noises of different noise sources in vicinity of a motor vehicle. A detecting unit e.g. camera (8), detects the driver's response to sound. A signal processor (4) identifies the various noise sources in the noise for assigning a safety level of relevance to each identified noise based on a captured response of the driver for the sound. A loudspeaker (7) reproduces the identified noise with volume dependant on the assigned safety level. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for driver assistance in a motor car (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions for driver assistance in a motor car.
