The method involves transmitting information between the sensor (4) on the one hand and the control unit (3) on the other hand, and transmitting a trigger impulse from the control unit to the sensor, by which the sensor is actuated to initiate the measurement process. A separate code pulse of the trigger impulse is transmitted from the control unit to the sensor, by which the information about a code to be applied on a sensor signal during the measurement process is transmitted to the sensor.
