The method involves adjusting amplitude of an electric voltage resting against a data line (5) from a reference value to amplitude value, which is different from the reference value. The amplitude value is selected from two predetermined different amplitude values based on information transmitted between a sensor (4) and a control device (3) over the data line. A transmitting signal is emitted based on a transmission command of the sensor. Additional information is transmitted between the sensor and the control device. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance system for a motor vehicle.
